How Dysport Works
Dysport utilizes a highly purified neurotoxin called abobotulinumtoxinA, which is derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. This neurotoxin is meticulously processed to ensure safety and efficacy in cosmetic applications. When injected into specific facial muscles, Dysport works by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that trigger muscle contractions. These contractions are responsible for the formation of dynamic wrinkles, such as frown lines (glabellar lines), forehead lines, and crow’s feet.
Dynamic wrinkles develop over time due to repeated facial expressions like squinting, frowning, and raising eyebrows. With each contraction, the underlying facial muscles tug on the skin, leading to the formation of visible lines and creases. Dysport targets this root cause by interrupting the communication between nerves and muscles, effectively relaxing the muscles and preventing them from contracting as forcefully.
Unlike dermal fillers, which work by adding volume to plump up wrinkles and folds, Dysport addresses wrinkles caused by muscle activity. By reducing muscle activity in targeted areas, Dysport allows the overlying skin to smooth out gradually. This results in a softer, more relaxed appearance of the skin, diminishing the visibility of wrinkles and lines without compromising natural facial expressions.
